IGI Integrates the Mosaic X into the StreetMapper-V for Orbis360
IGI is meeting customer demand and expanding its hardware compatibility for mobile mapping solutions
Customer-led integrations for better geospatial mapping results
Orbis360 provides mobile mapping services and web visualization of 3D data for various public and private sector clients. To best serve their clients with high-resolution imagery, Orbis360 needed the accuracy of the StreetMapper-V mobile mapping system with the high-resolution imagery of the Mosaic X.
They approached Integrated Geospatial Innovations (IGI) to integrate these two powerful technologies. IGI is the developer of the high-accuracy StreetMapper-V mobile mapping system, which usually includes the Ladybug5+ or Ladybug6 cameras.
IGI successfully integrated the Mosaic X camera onto the existing StreetMapper-V platform. This includes full compatibility with IGI’s TERRAcontrol navigation system, dual GNSS antenna support, and Riegl laser scanners.
The Mosaic X is built for high-speed capture and offers distortion-free global shutter sensors. As a compact, standalone build with internal GNSS and up to 2TB of onboard storage, it is ready for both remote areas and urban environments.
This customer-driven integration marks a significant extension of IGI’s StreetMapper-V portfolio, offering clients more choice and flexibility in mobile mapping systems equipped with LiDAR.
IGI’s StreetMapper-V, affectionately called “the bird” for its winged shape.
Regarding the integration, IGI’s Business Development Manager, Kamil Wójcik said, “The bird got a new head from Mosaic.”
With this project, IGI demonstrates its readiness to support camera flexibility in future builds. Customers can now choose from a broader range of imaging options within the StreetMapper-V ecosystem. It demonstrates how customer-driven decisions can enhance the adaptability of geospatial technologies.
As the classic adage goes, “the customer is always right.”
On the road with the StreetMapper-V and Mosaic X
Now that the Mosaic X is integrated into the IGI StreetMapper-V, Orbis360 can better meet the needs of its clients. For example, Thurgau Canton in Switzerland is building and periodically updating its database of roadways. This leads to faster and safer virtual inspections, saving time and money.
